How Charcoal Works

Charcoal is filled with tiny pores that attract poisons and attach them to its surface (adsorption).  It is used in many filtering applications for this reason, such as water filters, air filters, and gas masks.  It is also used in hospitals for overdoses, since it adsorbs most drugs very effectively.
